‘Pasque’ time

The first perennial flower to show in spring in my Ottawa garden is the Pulsatilla vulgaris (pasque flower). I love this flower so much that I have three groupings of them in my yard.  One of the great things about it is that it blooms for about 6 weeks and always makes the first flower appearance, even before the tulips and daffodils.

The flowers range in colour from mauve to violet and you can expect the plant to grow approx 1′ x 1′.

My favourite spot to plant the pasque flower is at the front of the home in full sun, where it can be enjoyed daily.
