#1 shrub for Ottawa gardens

My top shrub may surprise some of you.  I choose Euonymus alatus ‘Compactus’ otherwise known as Dwarf burning bush.

My reason for choosing this shrub is that I belive that the colour in fall cannot be matched.  It is compact, undemanding and put’s on a BRILLIANT show when the rest of the garden is starting to fade.  During the summer months in provides structure and a beautiful green background for perennials that are having their time to shine.

In Ottawa gardens you can expect this shrub to get 1.5m in width and approx 1.2m in height.
