It is no secret that I am a big fan of colour. One of my favourite combinations is yellow with blue foliage. One of the ways I achieve this combination is by planting Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Dart’s Gold’. I love the ninebark’s and this one is one of my favourites. The shrub has a vase shape and has small white flowers that turn to red fruit. I find that other than a routine pruning, this shrub is very easy. In Ottawa you can expect this shrub to reach about 1.5m in height and about the same in width.
Here are a couple of pictures from one of my own garden’s. The ninebark ‘Dart’s Gold’ is in the right hand side corner of the picture providing that nice shot of yellow foliage.
