Including native plants in your Ottawa garden

We touched earlier on native plants when I blogged about water in the garden.  I wanted to give you a couple examples of native flowers that you can use in your own garden.  The pictures that I have attached are pictures from my own garden.

The great thing about using native plants is that they are adapted to the local climate and soil conditons.  They also survive very well on rainfall alone so they make excellent choices for low maintenance, low water consumption garden.

Black-eyed Susan.  Rudbeckia

Wild Daisies.

I remember as a little girl my Dad pulling our car over to the side of the road so that we could stop and pick daisies

Anemone. I like to call these “Wind flowers”.
